This company is exactly as advertised. We found them to be very professional and responsive during the planning stages and during the course of our kitchen renovation. Last year my wife and I decided to redo our kitchen and living room entertainment unit. After a number of contacts with various companies and a number of home visits and quotes, we invited Mike Brown to come and finalize the project specifications. We chose Mike because of his honest assessment of what needed to be done in our living room. He provided an option that made a lot of sense to us contrary to what others were suggesting. He was detailed in his assessment of our kitchen needs, right down to the process of replacing the shelf tape trim. We chose material and color and left the project in the hands of Island Dream Kitchens. Tracy, the Project Manager, came out for final measurements and he was fantastic. A great personality and very, very knowledgeable. The renovation timeline fit perfectly with what was going in our lives and Tracy and his team managed to adjust effortlessly to a few requests that we made during the process. The results speak for themselves.

About a month after install, we had an accident in our kitchen which took a chunk out of one of our cabinet doors. We called Mike and he took the door and completely refinished it for us in 48 hours at no charge. Class act!

The project has long since finished and I am still amazed at the quality of the transformation. My wife and I sometimes just say to each other “wow”. It is such a fantastic feeling when you have accomplished the meaning of “money well spent”.

We were building our Lake House on Shuswap Lake in the Interior of British Columbia, and contracted Island Dream Kitchens to design, build and install our custom cabinetry in the Kitchen, Laundry Room, Bathrooms and each of the closets in the bedrooms and entry way. We also had them design a custom wood counter top for the laundry room.
They delivered amazing craftsmanship on time and on budget and focused on the detail to ensure we were 100% happy with the outcome. It was very clear throughout the process that qualified caring professionals had taken charge and even in the middle of the install when we requested some modifications to the design, they were quickly deployed without another word. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and we were even updated with photos along the way so that we could feel a part of the project before the installation. I wish I had seen the review by Roland and Jocelyn before I went ahead with Dream Kitchens as my experience was similar. The measurements they took for my bathroom vanity were incorrect: the cabinet was too shallow and there were significant gaps and wasted space between pieces. They refused to redo the vanity cabinetry.

Had I let them install the cabinet they made, I would have lost counter space and storage capacity, while flooring and painting work would have been required due to the significantly smaller footprint of their 'custom' replacement vanity.

They refused to make it right and tried to argue I was liable for the poor measurements since I had "approved the drawings." As a customer, their expectation was that I check their work to ensure they do the job right.

Now I am left with a non-functional bathroom while I find another contractor to do the job right.

Be wary of contractors that ask for money upfront.

Response to the owner:
In Roland and Jocelyn's review, they stated "He [Mike] will say anything to get the job, but when the contract is signed, it's only about the money. To make a long story, we won our court case.... The judge said Mike Brown had zero credibility."
Contrary to Mike's response, I was not happy with the work done on my kitchen drawers. The measurements were wrong and I could barely squeeze my hand in to pull them out. I did not think the update was wonderful, nor did I brag to my neighbours about it. To boot, I was surprised by Mike's reaction when I told him I wasn't happy because his son who had taken the measurements had said, before they got the contract, that he was a perfectionist. But when the bathroom vanity was being installed, this perfectionist clearly stated in a most unpleasant manner, upon discovering that measurements weren't right, that he would not do a new vanity. After that Mike said they could fix it to my satisfaction, but his solution was to put extra boards behind the vanity and to bring the kick plate flush with the vanity to avoid having to repaint the bathroom and redo the floor. He was also adamant that they would not do any more work unless I paid them ahead of the job. That was certainly not to my satisfaction. Since the job was never completed, I am not in arrears and have paid him for the work that was finished.

The service provided by Island Dream Kitchens was excellent. Mike and Dylan guided us through the design and material selection for cabinets in the kitchen, bath, closets and entry of a new building. Delivery and installation were on time, quality was outstanding and company staff were on-site for completion and final adjustments. The process was pleasant and stress free. I would highly recommend the company to others.

We recently got our kitchen renovated by Island Dream Kitchens and are extremely pleased with how it looks now. The workmanship and services offered by Mike and his team were excellent. Mike listened to our ideas and offered his suggestions too and worked with us to get it done within our budget. He always addressed any concern that we had and was very prompt in responding to our calls and messages. We pointed out a flaw in our kitchen counter after it was installed and he readily took back the entire counter, did a new one and installed it to our satisfaction. It looks great now!

From the initial design stages to the final finishing details, we were very satisfied with their work. Mike Brown, President of Island Dream Kitchens, did a wonderful job of helping us refine our ideas, and gained our confidence and settled our nerves as he guided us through the process of finalizing a plan and choosing cabinets, countertops, appliances and hardware. His son, Dylan, was also very helpful, adding computerized images of the plan, and his excellent custom cabinetry skills to the project. We enjoyed working with Mike’s team and tradespeople, who arrived as scheduled, and provided excellent installation and finishing work. The results were beyond our expectations, both in functionality and appearance. We’ve had many compliments on the new kitchen from friends and family.
