After years of trusting them to file taxes for my husband and myself, we inquired about the Graduate Retention Program and whether this was being included on our returns. We moved here from out of province, which was why we wanted to entrust professionals with our filings. We were then informed that no, the GRP needs to be applied for separately. By the time they told us this, it had passed seven years from both our graduations and we could no longer apply the GRP certificate on our taxes. Thousands of dollars lost because the accountants we were paying to do our taxes didn't bother to mention it.

I had my dad’s estate taxes done after a sudden death, I was recommended this firm from my lawyer as I lived out of province from where this needed to be done. I wish I would have gone elsewhere for this, they filed his taxes and I paid an outrageous amount in taxes to begin with, only to have multiple reassessments done by the CRA, and I owe an additional $30,000+. I get missing a couple hundred dollars…but thousands? Something was done very wrong. Even at the time the communication and professionalism was lacking, I just wanted it done so we continued to have them complete the job, BIG mistake. Don’t waste your money here, get it done somewhere that actually cares enough to do it properly it’ll cost you more in the end. This has caused us nothing but stress, time and money.

Absolutely the worst accounting firm. They do not respond to emails, or know how to prepare taxes, especially when there is a death involved. Kept telling us we had the wrong forms that we needed the correct ones. Several calls were made to the bank and cra and everyone said we had the right information. I even had a second opinion from a real accountant and they told me what to tell them what they needed to do and they still said it’s impossible without the correct forms.
We ended up taking our business elsewhere (to the accountant that gave us a free second opinion) and we had no issues… BECAUSE WE HAD THE RIGHT TAX FORMS. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They weren’t even willing to try and work with us. Just kept saying no, no, no and then no response. Absolutely unprofessional and incompetent.

Walked in with a backlog of 8 years taxes to do. A1 finished it up quickly and got me a nice refund.

When CRA tried to make me pay money back for union fees being deducted, A1 took care of it and got it removed. (CRA does this to me every year)

A1 has been excellent over the past 3 years (11 years' worth of income tax returns.)
