The Souris Motor Inn is a cute dive bar. It has had renovations in the last few years and the rooms have upgraded some. If you are looking for somewhere fancy to stay this isn't the place but the rooms have what you need for a fair price. Things may be outdated but the staff here is super friendly and accommodating.
The bar has everything you need, slots, darts, vendor, plenty of seating and great bar tenders.
The location is great it's right across from a Chicken Chef, short 1 min walk to the swinging bridge and the heart of the town. With grocery stores, gift shops, pharmacy and more restaurants.
If there is anything wrong with your room the staff are always ready to help!

I stayed there last night and all was fine. It's an old place and the original hotel. If you are on a budget or just want to save money it is fine for a night or two. Like many many small town hotels you can't be picky. The toilet and shower work. There's coffee in the room. I didn't use the fridge or microwave on my trip but it's there for longer stays. It's very dated and has that old motel smell. They've gotten rid of the carpets and have flooring at least. There's new TVs in the rooms. The other new hotel which is quite big for Souris is $165 a night plus tax and this was $77 tax in, so all in all a good deal to save. Accommodations in small towns are hard to come by, so be thankful they have this motel at least. The owner and staff were very helpful and I was very safe there. No rush to check out either.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The owner was friendly and the location was pretty convenient for someone travelling through Manitoba. I was in room 3 and it was clean and comfortable. Thank you!

Mouldy building. The food and menu is uninspiring. The restaurant manager is arrogant and rude considering her building is seemingly falling apart. The actual owners are half decent, but they seem to cater to the underbelly of the Souris area.
If you need a hotel room that is modern, clean and safe, go up the street to the new Souris Hotel. It is privately owned and you can haggle for a room there. They might even give it to ya for 80 or 90 if that's all you have. Generally the rooms are about 100 a night there

We selected this hotel just to find a place to sleep and didn't have much expectations. We checked in late and also did a late request for an extra bed. No problems, service was good. We couldn't find anyone when we were checking out though. We just left the keys somewhere and gave them a call later. Must be a small town on Sunday thing.

The hotel is in a good location in the town. It is across from chicken chef which is one of the few places I know of that serve breakfast in town. The swinging bridge and Victoria park are both less than 10 minutes walk away.

Based on some signs, it seems they plan to open a restaurant on-site in the future (serving sushi it looks like).

EDIT: It's now been a year since our visit and there still has been no contact from the owners, or anyone for that matter, regarding our stay and my fall in the shower.

When my daughter and I checked in, we noticed the shower stall was dirty looking.
I wore my flip flops in the shower the next morning and swished the shampoo around the floor to clean it. I took my shoes off and ended up falling and banging my hip on the floor. I had to put a towel down in order to stand up again.
I told the girl working there what happened, showed my pictures and she said she would let the owner know what happened.
We decided to stay another night and was not contacted by the owner.
I sent an email explaining my fall and still no response. It's been 2 months since I fell.

Price - the man just lied to us! He saw that this was late evening and will not go to other place. In the site states "62.5$". He told us 68+tax. Waited a moment a then told us "+10$". He started to tell something about 2 beds or so. There was only me and my wife. So instead 62.5$, he charged us 78$.
The room doesn't worth the money.
I hope this money will be for his pills.

Thank you
Dmitry

My wife and I recently spent one night at the Souris Motor Inn on our way to attend a family function. Finding accomodations in most of the smaller towns in south-western Manitoba is difficult. However we regret very much that we did not stop 40 minutes earlier and spend the night at any number of motels in and around Brandon, Manitoba.||||The Souris Motor Inn is all worn out and is probably beyond the stage where renovations could fix the problem. Everything we saw both outside and inside this motel is old, dingy and dirty. Our room was adequate in size but stunk of urine. We paid $61 (taxes incl.) to stay at this place and I regret not just walking away and sleeping in our car if necessary.||||Avoid this place !!
