RM recycling pickup is a JOKE. Just watched them drive right by our bins, so I am heading out to throw it all in the garbage. It was always bad, with them having crap fly out as they drive around, but now they have gotten even worse. So, i see no need to bother anymore. Three times they have left stuff since January so from now on, if it it not picked up it goes in the garbage for the next week.

Still, your curbside service was never great either and never friendly. Too many times I cleaned up our street after your trucks came through with stuff flying out. After asking a few times and no one coming back to cleanup I gave up.
I will say however your staff on site have always been polite. I just dont make the effort to bring things there anymore...totally out of my way to get there. Nice as well to get a quick reply from you.

It’s easy to get everything dropped off so you don’t take too much time there and prices for the dump seem fair.

Maple Ridge has always had the most pathetic curbside pick up.
But as of January 1st they have SOMEHOW MADE IT EVEN WORSE!!!!

This recycling center can take a long list of approved items which includes all personal and household electronics, all types of lightbulbs, paper, cardboard, plastics (bags and containers), white styrofoam, aluminum and steel. Used motor oil, oil filters, other automotive oils as well as paint and coolant are recyclable. I believe bicycles and other such are recyclable there too.

Styrofoam is accepted but it is the common type of harder white foam pieces that seem to come packaged with most electronics that is accepted.

Construction material (poly, insulating foam pieces) are generally not accepted. And unfortunately those will end up in the landfill.

While here, you can also obtain new blue and red recycling boxes however older recycling boxes do not seem recyclable here.

Workers I’ve met are generally informative and helpful to explain what is accepted. If in doubt I ask first before unloading and they are usually apologetic if unable to take those items. YMMV. It is handy that the transfer station is next door.

During the week, I’ve been able to get in and out widely. If there is a wait, it’s usually no more than a 5-10 min. Weekends are much busier and the day after a long weekend is typically very busy. Expect a longer wait.

Most staff is pleasant and helpful. The change from Maple Ridge Recyclers to Recycle BC (Rempel Disposal) will take some adjusting.

There's something freighteningly concerning with the staff. For a recycling society, it seems hardly anything is recycled. I've tried recycling valid items only for staff to reject them for frivolous reasons. I couldn't drop off flattened cardboard, because there was still packing tape on it. I was told because it's both paper and plastic that it's garbage. An empty soda can was rejected because it was dented. I was advised only cans in perfect condition can be taken - crumpled cans are garbage. The last straw was a staff member throwing a piece of platic back at me that injured my face, advising me I shouldn't bother recycling because it's "clearly too much" for me to handle.

For a "society" that advocates recycling, the front-line staff finds people who come to recycle a complete burden on their day and doesn't encourage recycling at all. Since the front-line staff, representing the soceity, explicitly told me not to recycle anymore. I'll never return to this depot again, the bullies that work here make me incredibly uncomfortable. If curbside pickup doesn't accept something, then it will simply be trashed. Ridge Meadows Recycling Society seems to put up a welcoming face for recycling, especially on their site, but in reality they've seemingly instructed all their staff to turn away as many people as possible.

Not for bottle refunds, there needs to be a huge sign or something posted to save time from emptying bottles and placing shit back in the bags! Ugh!!! What a waste of time
