I used to camp here as a child almost yearly. It was a very popular place, with lots going on! I brought my child here for the first time, we rented one of the two cabins they offer. It is pet friendly, total bonus. Very clean, and each site is well maintained. Bathrooms available close by. Hiking trails are excellent! The only downfall, is that nothing seems to be open, during the week. We went to use the pool (during pool hours) and it was closed. The front desk was closed .. so we had to purchase any extra wood, ice etc outside the campground.

We did a day trip here and liked the tranquility of the area. Lots of trails and scenic areas to explore.
There were numerous people fishing, you could clearly see
fish surfacing in the water. Spent some time exploring the beautifully preserved historical buildings including a mill and schoolhouse on site. Good place for young children, family campground.

Great place to camp staff are super friendly, clean washrooms are well maintained, especially for camping. same people every year, only down fall this year was the pool with its ticket process and only 10 people allowed in at a time for a designated time ( 1hour increments) sucked for a huge family event there was about 30 of us camping and we couldn’t all go at the same time like last year so we didn’t bother with it. Also a lot of the heritage sites were being either renovated or closed you weren’t allowed to go in so that was also kind of disappointing. Camps sites were very cleaned and well maintained. Great place to make memories.

Wonderful park with a historic village and mill. The mill is truly historic and had a free in person tour that was really well done!

Stayed at one of the cabins (firefly), it was nice.
They have to work on their electrical though, only one working outlet, so I had to pass an extension cord out the hole in the window to get power outside.
And they need to fix the doorknob on the front of the cabin. It doesn't latch, so you need to lock the deadbolt all the time to keep the door closed. Almost had a raccoon enter the cabin our first night.

This is an amazing place to visit for the day!! We loved exploring the old mill and the incredible village!!
This mill was saved from the quick thinking owner who skillfully “set it on fire ? “ so when the invaders saw it they had no reason to go destroy it themselves! It’s one of the only surviving mills from the war of 1812!!
The re-enactment is fabulous!! Especially for adventurous families!

What a beautiful location. Well maintained , and so many wonderful things to do.
I enjoyed the mill tour and the gentleman that is the mill guide was passionate and informed. I like the personal touches he pointed out that really brought the lives of the people to life. It’s a must do for anyone in Norfolk visiting or passing through. Great day with the family.
