I went today (1/19) with my close friend. I must say the visit was amazing! I truly enjoyed that we had our own space to enjoy ourselves and take many pictures. The young ladies working brought nothing but positive vibes. I highly recommend to check out! ❤️

The Black Hair Experience Museum is a selfie museum with a nostalgic feel and a touch of education on black hair. Located in Tanger Outlets, TBHE is nestled in a store front right off the main path. I ordered my ticket online and check-in was a breeze. Upgrade your ticket to include a Swag Bag, you'll be glad you did.

There are lots of exhibits and installments to fill up your camera roll, so grab your village or fly solo like me, grab your selfie stick, get your lips poppin, and pose! I will definitely be back with my people, so we can cut up in a good time.
By the way, the staff was amazing and the establishment was very clean. Pictured are just a small number of exhibits.

Very magically experience and I do plan to come back again. A safe space to celebrate the Black woman. I felt special and it brought back memories of sitting in the kitchen getting my hair hot combs. More places like this are needed for representation!

My friend and I had an awesome time at the black hair experience! We got a lot of IG worthy photos and also enjoyed the music while we took photos.

Went there with a group of friends. We had a great time. There was good music and many exhibits to take pictures. The only downside was the air conditioning not working right.

Because it's a museum, I wish there was information or descriptions on the exhibits.
For instance, if there were statistics/facts/stories of racial discrimination in the workplace due to hairstyles on the exhibit for professional hair.

Or the history or weaves and black hair stores by the one that looks like a store. Bios of famous black women and the evolution of black hair.

Just something engaging, either to read or a video to watch about our history for each of the sets instead of just pictures.

Also, in the gift shop, it would be nice to have more brand apparel, shirts, hats, scarves that actually said “the black hair experience” or whatever the logo is, instead of just trendy quotes.

Would have loved to give this place 5 stars but the place wasn’t open. It seems this location has closed down and it would have been nice if that was indicated online or on the website since we were looking forward to it so much. I had brought my niece, daughter, and mother to experience 4 generations of black hair so we were very disappointed that it was closed. Hopefully, they will reopen this museum in a new location in this area.

I want to go again!!! Everything about it was so fun. I’ve been to plenty experiences like this & this is by far the best one. First, shout out to Carmel because she’s awesome & very accommodating. The music was such a vibe. The interaction stations were so awesome & nostalgic. They also had black owned products for sale so you know I had to support. Definitely recommend!!!!
