Not only was I met with extreme rudeness, but the individual also slammed the door in my face and stated, “I don’t have time for you,” without any explanation or courtesy. My experience of Owen was very negative. Other negative reviews matched my experience: unprofessional, condescending, rude, angry, told me he was very busy and I was wasting his time. As another reviewer said, Owen welcomed me to take my business elsewhere. Because I had already invested time in working with him and the tax-filing deadline was looming, I didn’t want to invest more time finding another tax preparer. As another reviewer said, I will not return.

After Owen sent me a draft of my tax return, I spent an hour checking it over and found several errors. He claimed that his assistant made them. Doesn’t he check his assistant’s work? Although Owen didn’t apologize, he corrected the errors. Fixing the errors that I found added about a hundred dollars to my refund.

The fact that almost all of Owen’s reviews are either 5 or 1 star, and that by far the most up votes have gone to the 1-star reviews, supports one reviewer’s claim that the 5-star reviews are fake. Either that, or Owen solicited the 5-star reviews.

I went to Owen from a recommendation from a close friend. My papers were a mess but he took the time to sit with me, going through everything I had, even asked me about stuff I had forgotten to collect/add, he helped me immensely. He’s very thorough. As someone partially employed and self-employed, organizing and manoeuvring through HST and personal income taxes, i was really confused. Owen clarified many questions and helped me with all my accounting and tax needs. Why didn’t go to him earlier?

Update:
Years later from first review, I am still utilizing Owen’s services. I have since moved to BC and I cannot even think of going to anyone here.
His advice and help is invaluable. I have recommended him to other colleagues of mine, and still do.
2019 and 2020 were weird tax years for me (Ontario and BC, and covid) and he helped immensely. I believe him to be a very honest and trustworthy accountant. Owen my go to Tax person!
