We were trying to get our paperwork up to date and organized. We signed up with port hardy Ascentia when it was Dan Foster. First year, when he was there was good. Then he retired and it became Ascentia. At this point we were still 1 year behind but the accountant had all the paperwork now and we were optimistic that by the next filing we'd be up to date.
Once Dan was gone our paperwork stopped getting filed, we kept getting all kinds of excuses...mostly personal issues from the individual account herself. Our paperwork became the worst it's ever been, about 2 years plus of behind filings. We made so many phonecalls and emails. My husband was always friendly and patient but after a while I started to contact them asking them to explain what the problem was. I found the explanations to be of a personal nature and deeply unprofessional to be using these personal struggles as excuses to your clients... we all have things going on (one being lack of sleep due to the stress from the state of my accounting!) but I still have a job to do, my accountant should be able to have that mindset shouldn't they!?

Now we have moved to a new accountant who can't even get a response from his emails or letters to get the crucial information he needs from Ascentia!

I guess I will be needing to file a complaint to the CPA!

A friend also uses this firm in port hardy and is experiencing similar difficulties.

I would NOT recommend the port Hardy branch of Ascentia.

Highly recommend! Ever since I started working with ascentia CPA, my (accounting) life is so much easier and I’m now able to focus on what I do best – my business. I actually enjoy working with my accountant now, whereas before I never have. Working with them honestly requires little to no effort on my part, especially when it comes to sending my stuff in. All I’m required to do is send my invoices/expenses through their app on my smartphone and the rest is taken care by them. So easy. I also respect that they are an environmentally friendly firm given their entire approach is paperless.
