I've played many courses, and this place is the best among public courses. The price is great as well. The fairways are well-maintained like carpet, and the greens are so fast. All the staff are extremely nice. Highly recommend.

Love this course. Greens and fairways are usually in awesome condition. One of the better Doug Carrick courses out there. And now they have this little robot that cuts the grass. Thanks for keeping the course so nice lil guy!

Had an awful experience at Ballantrae. We had a foursome, 3 walking 1 riding. We were continually harassed by the course marshals for pace of play, saying we were holding the groups behind us up... the group behind us was consistently 2 holes behind us. One of the marshals even started arguing with us when we asked them to stop harassing us because we were on pace! He even threatened to make us skip a hole! We finished the round in 4 hours. The course itself was nice but the greens are in pretty bad shape.

After our round I went to grab some lunch in their restaurant (I was hungry because there was no beverage cart on the course, no halfway house, and apparently no time to grab any food at the turn) but the kitchen was closed! The only hot food offering was a hot dog and it was completely cold.

I couldn’t recommend Ballantrae less.

One of the worst golf rounds I have ever had. We were continually harassed by staff to speed up play. With a 3 hr 40 min pace 2 walking 2 riding I’m not sure how much faster we can play. We were all playing bogey golf it better. If you want a pace of 3:30 or better maybe explicitedly state this before the round and make carts mandatory.

Been wanting to play this course and it did not disappoint! A beautiful property! They have a nice warm-up range (I do wish they gave you more range balls) and short game area near the first tee. The course was well-maintained and a treat to play. Tough, but fair, with sloping greens. A top-tier course in Ontario for a very reasonable price. Will definitely return.

The good:
This course is beautiful. It’s maintained extremely well, the carts are great, and the staff is mostly friendly.

The bad:
While the Marshalls were friendly and polite, it feels like they expect you to sprint to your ball and speed run the course. I can’t believe how many times they came up to us and told us we were behind pace while there was literally no one behind us and we could see the group in front of us finishing each hole as we teed off. We were by no means playing slow at all, and we finished this course in around 4 hours. The entire time I was more stressed about my pace of play than anything else. We stopped keeping score and just focused on finishing in time. This really ruined our experience - this was the worst experience I ever had golfing.

Also as a side note: This course is lined with roads and houses on almost every hole so if you have any sort of slice or lack of confidence in your shot, I would avoid it.

Given our experience, it’s hard to give more than a 1 star review even though the course is so nice.

I have the same sentiment of many other reviews here. The course is beautiful and in great shape, however the marshalls need to focus on groups that are actually playing slow and behind pace. Our group was interrupted by the marshall 4 separate times to play faster and even were given the threat to skip a hole, despite him acknowledging to us that we were on pace for 4 hours, as well as the groups behind us not even being on the tee box of a par 5 as we were putting.
