Not one good thing to say. Extra fees tacked on (7% "admin fee") with little to no service provided. An accountant should be reviewing and making recommendations for your taxes but this has NEVER happened. I have always had to be the one to ask the tax questions and have had responses like "oh thats a good point" or "That would make sense, I'll have to look into that." Very little knowledge and if you question something and they have to look into it (even if you are right) they charge extra.
I had stayed with them out of convenience but would not recommend. Terrible experience and the one other friend I referred said he had the same experience and was grossly overcharged compared to other firms. Over priced to begin with then tack on an extra 7% fee, plus fees for emails, advice, etc. I had a mentor say, if your accountant is charging you to ask a question around structure, and you already have a book keeper then why are you paying them? "They are an overpaid book keeper"

I was referred to BDO by a friend who said "I didnt use them, but I sure wish I had" which speaks volumes from the get-go. I was booked with Dustin, who was incredibly professional and made the visit very comfortable. Considering the position I was in I was nervous to tackle my financial issues and frankly embarrassed, and Dustin quickly calmed those feelings. After two appointments in a 7 day span, corrective action is moving forward and Im already feeling 100x better about my situation. BDOs administrative staff is welcoming and easy to book with/speak to, offering refreshments on your arrival to the office. Overall I will be recommending them to anyone whos in a similar situation. Thank you so very much!

Had some life changes occur so I needed help. Dustin Joslin Was great to deal with. He handled everything over the phone and a video call to sign the paperwork. Not that anything was enjoyable, he just made it way more bearable.

We have used this company in the past and were just as pleased as we always have been with their service. Not only is the appointment scheduling easy but the fellows, Alex and Jeff, were courteous, professional and efficient, just as you would expect and wish a service company would be. I highly recommend 1-800-Got-junk for any "junk" removal.

Be warned. We have been fighting for accountability from the Kelowna and Penticton offices for years. Their "solution" has been to ignore us and hide behind legal clauses. They made substantial errors in our taxes and in surplus income calculations that have cost us tens of thousands of dollars and enormous amounts of time and stress. I have even escalated the problems and requested assistance from higher up at BDO, and even those above the issues involved will not insist on accountability from those involved. We trusted them to do it right in the first place and then we trusted they would be accountable to their errors and fix the problems. They did neither.

Will be billed for emails and phone calls substantially when inquiring on questions an accountant should be able to answer. Personally tax filing rates up two years in a row. One reassessed, money owed. Tripled the price of filing when a rental property was added.

Terrible company. Inflated my girlfriends consumer proposal. Ended up paying 100 % of debt instead of 50 % which is what was told to her. Why? Because the more debt you have to pay off the more money BDO makes. Extremely shady business practice.

So many issues, I'm not sure where to begin. Oh, I know. The fact that I've been discharged and they're still somehow getting my gst cheques.
Find a different company.
