Friendly folks but if you use them, make sure you check all their charges including their bookkeeping charge before going ahead. They increase it during tax season to a point that is unreasonable in my view. I just checked with a local bookkeeper and the charge averaged $55/hr. I was billed $160 hr (tax season rate). Now...I did get a discount for bookkeeping and the tax filing (which I thanked Chris for) but this was only after I called in to express my surprise at the bill for the total services. In hindsight, I should have discussed all fees before going ahead. I had an expectation based on my previous tax filer. On his part, Chris, could (should) have offered me his pricing sheet. Anyway....caveat emptor.

We dropped into the office in the last week with just little time left to get our taxes done. We were greeted by the friendly and very helpful staff. the taxes were done in just two days. All our questions were answered clearly and the fee even ended up lower than agreed to!!! We were most impressed and will always deal with them in the future!!!

We had Beacon Tax do our taxes in 2019, I phoned after 4 weeks to check on the progress (a very simple filing) and they told us it would be prepared soon, but they were busy. We always submit early. Completed that week with the nudge.

For our 2020 return, we provided them with paperwork early again, they prepared the filing (very quickly), sent I invoice and we paid promptly. 2.5 weeks after our last contact, I checked the CRA site and our efile had not yet been received. I sent a email the Tuesday, no response. Calling the office on Thursday, they told me the CRA is lagging.

I asked when the efile had been submitted, they said this past Tuesday (after my nudge email again). Then reception told me they were a little behind on their (the offices) end at that point and I expressed how disappointment I was that their was not clear communication, at which point reception said. "okay".

I am disappointed in the service I have received, and feel that if you are trusting someone to complete your taxes, there should be honesty. I hope they do better for their clients moving forward.
