After realizing that my chosen accountant had a conflict of interest, he ad the good sense to refer me to Crowe Soberman LLP in Toronto to be the Estate Accountants on my brother's Estate, since he was under Ontario's jurisdiction, rather than Quebec's. That's where I reside. Also the bank account for the Estate.

I found every employee there to be extremely knowledgeable about tax law and responsive to my own lack of such knowledge. Also my lack of technical expertise in dealing with portals, Docusign, direct bank transfers and so forth.

Yes, they are NOT inexpensive. But, overall, they did a fantastic job on behalf of the Estate. Could not be happier, and recommend them whole heartedly.

Terrible service for personal tax advice. Charitably, they are disorganized and move extremly slowly, better off finding another option. Would avoid.

Problem with follow up and following through on action plan. At $650 an hour I expected better service then this.
I contacted Crowe Soberman after finding an informative article about the new change of use rules for principal residence. As my scenario is a little complicated I wanted this handled by a professional. I was offered an appointment within a week and met with one of CS accountants to review the details and come up with an action plan. The accountant seemed knowledgeable and personable. They were going to start working on it the next business day. I was to expect an email with encryption instructions for documents and an amount for the retainer.
Unfortunately the email never came and I didn't hear anything from them. I sent a follow up email at the end of the week. No reply. Two weeks went by. I called them directly and was quickly told that they would get back to me in 3 business days and that they hadn't forgotten about me. Fine. It's now been an additional two and a half weeks and still haven't heard anything so at this point I will be seeking another accountant at another firm. Extremely disappointed.

This firm did my taxes for me through a program. I sent them all my information, but they filed it in French. I responded to them and they corrected it almost immediately. Then I received my CRA documents and they are completely in French as well and I am unable to read most of it.

I contacted the company via emails and have never received a response back. I have now been on hold over an hour with CRA trying to correct the situation so that I can accurately deal with my taxes.

All I wanted was a response to my emails asking about how to go about this and how this can be corrected.

As a recipient of a third party audit performed by Crowe on behalf of a financial institution, I can only express my disappointment at the lack of knowledge and amateurish list of findings in their final audit report. They seem to be desperate to find any and all minor issues to flag, ignoring revision history in a policy document to state "does not perform annual review" despite the revision history clearly stating all the changes made in the last ten years. The policy document was submitted to them in January, with an annual review date of March, but because their report was completed in April it was flagged as an audit "Issue." Put two and two together, ask for the latest version, but to flag it as an issue is very amateurish.

That is just one of many issues with their auditors and process, I've dealt with EY, PWC, Deloitte, and many many others who would first ask the recipient before flagging these as an issue.

Our company goes through at least 10 audits annually and these were the worst audit report findings I have ever seen. First time dealing with them, I can only hope that our third party partner changes auditing firms.

Would never recommend them to anyone.

Nobody responded to any of my emails after I was given a notice of reassessment by the CRA on a tax filing. Terrible customer service.

LITERALLY THE WORST CPA FIRM IN TORONTO, IF NOT THE WHOLE OF CANADA!!! THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CHARGE ENORMOUS FEES FOR INCORRECT AND INCOMPLETE SERVICES. LINH NGUYEN IS ONE OF THE WORST THERE WHO WITHHOLDS INFORMATION FROM CLIENTS AND ENGAGES IN ALL SORTS OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST. STAY FAR WAY, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. GO TO ANYONE ELSE BUT THEM!! THEY HAVE NO CARE IN THE WORLD WHEN HANDLING YOUR ACCOUNT.
