One word describes our assessment of Evolve Builders and that is “exemplary”.

From the beginning to the end of our cottage renovation, our relationship with both Manny Hussey, our site manager, and our designer, Melanie Scott, was one of helpful, prompt and open communication. That was the key to moving ahead our project so productively. We were always given many excellent alternatives to consider for which they had done extensive research. Any changes in the budget were sent to us for approval, and many were reductions. Despite adverse winter weather conditions the project was completed on time. Attention to environmental concerns was at the highest level.

The building’s attractiveness and utility are superb. We couldn’t be happier.

UPDATE, July 10, 2023. I'm pleased to give an update about this professional outfit. Our project is underway... with the post-pandemic supply chains somewhat recovered. MS has been instrumental in keeping prompt & professional interactions with the various subcontractors. Furthermore, THINGS are getting DONE. Are things going perfect? Of course not! UPDATE, September 07, 2021. I'm pleased to update my review. Evolve Builders' integrity and willingness "to make it right", helped us get our development back on track. Yes, they are doing our development. I increased my rating from 3/5 to 4/5 stars. We are now in the PLANNING-stage of the build. I'm confident I will have more information to share with prospective clients by 2023!

ORIGINAL POST: My spouse and I met up with Evolve (via video calls and emails) in May-June, 2019. We each completed their questionnaires and submitted them to the firm. Unfortunately, Evolve Builders did not return our calls nor emails. If they had decided to not work with us, Evolve Builders should have been honest with us. It is now July, 2020 and we have to abandon this relationship.

We recently worked with Evolve on a design for a home renovation project. We can't say enough about how knowledgeable, helpful and all around enjoyable it was to work with everyone at Evolve. Evolve's commitment and experience to environmental building and design is incredibly inspiring and made us feel really good about our plans. Part of the design was costing our project, which they were extremely diligent and thorough about. Throughout the process, Evolve was extremely responsive to all our questions and fostered a real spirit of learning and collaboration. It was a real pleasure to work with Evolve, and we'll be sure to go back to them for our next renovation project!

We recently engaged Ben and the Evolve team (well, mostly Adam) to provide a detailed pre-construction estimate for a new low carbon home that we are designing. The thoroughness and care of their estimate is impressive - and I have seen a lot of estimates as an Architect.

We contacted Evolve in the very early stages of our design, hoping to dive into the world of Passive House. Ben, Michael and his team spent a lot of time with us virtually to walk through our different design options and put together Class D estimates for 2 of our design options. Unfortunately, we need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a design that will fit our budget. However, I have not met another contractor that worked with us so diligently and with so much passion.

I have been trying to plan my future building with this company for many YEARS. They ignore phone calls and emails. When you finally get a response they either want you to prepped and ready to go, know exact details of every aspect of the build or claim they are too busy to give you an estimate. Most people would need to arrange funding for any build and it is necessary to have an estimate to do so. When requesting to go on a list or wait for them to have time to work on your project estimate, so that you may eventually get some sort of idea on how to budget for the build, they continue to ignore your request, only to email you at the time you were hoping to get the estimate, to tell you they are too busy for your time frame for the build. I don't have a time frame, just an estimated one that was backing up to accommodate their "busy schedule". I find it very sad that they didn't even try to make time to work with a business who wanted this type of build for their business, because it promotes a more natural way to live, nature embracing and earth preservation. Unfortunately for them, I will not be able to promote the business to other like minded individuals, who are also looking to do this type of build in the near future, but were hoping to experience our build first.

This company hired me for the drywall on one of their projects. I was given a deposit for materials and Unfortunately that money was "STOLEN" and i contacted the builder to make a proposal to cover the Money. I provided them with two options. We agreed that they would buy the materials and the deposit amount that was stolen would come off the Labour amount owing. Shortly before the job was to start, THEY came to my Private Home and were caught looking in my garbage , in windows until i opened my front door. They made a comment about me coming to work sober, I found that comment very insulting as I DON't drink and active in A.A.for 7 years. Shortly after they left I was Fired. they say its for WSIB issues however they held back money from the deposit to cover the required wsib % Rate , and My boardmen have their own WSIB.
They sued my without having me served properly, then put misleading defamation comments on my reviews. Saying I Promptly "LOSS" the deposit.... Lost and Stolen are completely different things. They worded the comments which would suggest i ripped them off and when I requested the Review to be corrected with fact statements that The money was Stolen and police were notified....... I Respectfully had done no wrong to these people and offered ways of correcting the issue, I've filed an motion against the Judgement and Have started a Defamation Suit against them for misleading comments which are to harm my Reputation
