5 Stars!! All day long.

I had the most incredible experience with Great River Fishing Adventures! I caught my first giant sturgeon with my best friend by my side an unforgettable moment that I’ll never forget. Dean, our guide, was absolutely amazing. His expertise, passion, and knowledge of the river and the fish were truly unmatched. He made sure our day was filled with excitement, learning, and memories. I even got to learn about the fascinating history of the Fraser Canyon, which made the adventure even more special. The views throughout the day were simply magical, breathtaking, and surreal at every turn. Every expectation I had was completely surpassed!!

On top of that, we stayed in the incredible riverside domes, and the experience was just perfect. The accommodations were beautiful, every detail and amenity thoughtfully taken care of. It was so tranquil, and waking up to the spectacular views of the river and nature around us was something else. Relaxing in the hot tub overlooking the mighty Fraser River was the perfect way to end and start the days.

If you’re looking for the ultimate fishing adventure paired with a peaceful and luxurious stay, this is it. I can’t recommend Great River Fishing Adventures (and Dean!) enough!

This April marked my second trip to the Fraser Canyon with Master guide Dean Werk from Great River Fishing in British Columbia. Last summer, I was lucky to have brought my family to the canyon to fish for Sturgeon with Dean for the first time. I immediately fell in love with the Fraser River and the magnificence of the Fraser Canyon. Dean showed us three wonderful days of fishing with each day pointing out new and interesting history, talking points and places of interest along the river. The Sturgeon fishing was amazing! Dean‘s knowledge of where the fish are biting led us to all the best spots and Dean put monster fish on our lines each and every day. Dean‘s love for this fishery and the Fraser resources was immediately apparent. Dean loves to share his lifelong experiences of days spent on the water in search of the Great White Sturgeon. I would have to guess that no one alive has boated more Giant Sturgeon than Dean Werk! Dean takes great pride in his business and his office staff, the equipment and the experience that they provide is SECOND TO NONE in my opinion. His boats are spotless. The rods and reels were of very high-quality, super clean and very well maintained. Being a professional fishing guide and outfitter myself, I can truly appreciate the quality of the equipment that Dean provides his customers. Our most recent trip was just a couple weeks ago. Two of my younger fishing guides and myself headed to the Fraser to fish with Dean. It would be their first experience fishing on the Fraser and meeting my new friend Deano! Fishing was amazing and Dean spent so much extra time with my guys explaining why being a guide is special and why after 40 years of guiding Dean loves his job and considers himself lucky to be a pioneer of guiding on the Fraser River. I think everybody owes it to themselves to visit the Fraser Canyon sometime in your life. Dean and his team of amazing guides and office staff are the Apex of what a professional fishing guide business should look like. I would highly suggest booking your trip with Great River Fishing.

There's a reason its called Great River Fishing Adventures. The most exciting time you can have with the greatest people in this organization. We recently spent 3 days on the Fraser River with the great young guide Dawson. We had great success with his knowledge of the River and what setups to use. We look forward to returning in June of 2026 and doing it again, special thanks to Dean Werk and all of his crew.

Amazing three days with Dean and Dawson, catching huge sturgeon up to 7.5 feet every day - truly the trip of a lifetime. Friendly, ultra/professional guides who went above and beyond for my son and me every day. Can’t wait to go back -and with such stunning scenery, catching wonderful fish is a bonus. Can’t recommend highly enough

Bucket list item that exceeded all of our expectations! We fished for 2 days for sturgeon, one day regular and one day canyon fishing. I highly recommend doing both as they each had different views, experiences and epic fishing. Our guide was Mitch and we will DEFINITELY be requesting him again if we ever travel this way. Mitch was so friendly and fun and knowledgeable about the fish and the area. Easy to talk to, all around a great guy. We didn't get our "tattoo worthy" fish this time but we got some beauties and amazing memories!

The river was so beautiful and the company so good that I could have been caught nothing all trip and still had the trip of a lifetime
luckily we spent all trip catching massive (and some less massive!) sturgeon. If you’re lucky enough to guide with Dean, you’re in for a treat. A man so knowledgable that bears sit around their camp fires and tell stories about him.

Dean’s passion for the fishing, the area and its conservation were genuinely moving and more impressive than that - he’s passed it on to his staff. On day one of the trip we were guided by Dawson - a 20-something packed with Dean’s 60-something years of knowledge.

I’ve always been a fair weather fisherman, but after this trip I finally understood my Dad’s addiction. I don’t think this will be the last time I see this river.

We had an absolutely fantastic fishing trip with Great River Fishing Adventures this past April 14th (2025). Our group of four headed up the Fraser Canyon and had an experience that exceeded all expectations.

Our guide was outstanding – truly an unbelievable wealth of information about the river, the canyon, the history, and most importantly, the sturgeon! He was engaging, professional, and kept us thoroughly entertained for the entire trip.

The fishing itself was phenomenal. The absolute highlight was landing a massive sturgeon measuring over 8 feet! It was an incredible battle and an unforgettable moment for all of us.

Beyond the amazing fishing and fantastic guide, the operation itself is first-class. The boat was in pristine condition, comfortable, and clearly well-maintained. All the fishing gear and equipment provided were top-notch and in perfect working order. When we first contacted their office, we were greeted by Alyssa. A wonderfully fun and energetic person...the best to have up front and center! Everything was handled quickly and efficiently...emails and phone calls were easy, and all done with a smile 🙂

We simply cannot say enough good things about the quality of this entire adventure. We had such a blast from start to finish and it was truly a wonderful day on the water. If you're considering a fishing trip in the area, look no further. Highly, highly recommend Great River Fishing Adventures!

We just finished up our trip that was at beginning of October 2024. I found this service on Instagram and started researching a few years back and originally booked back before covid took off. Fast forward a few years and was able to get the trip going again. Big thanks to Alyssa for her effort and talking me into adding the salmon into the trip.

Our guide was Dawson, very educated on what he is doing and offered great directions on how to be more successful about hook sets, what to look for in a good bite, and also he explained to us rules and regulations about hooks and bait choices. I will also add that he did not ever let us get stagnant. Constantly bait checking, checking anchor, spot location in the water. The guy worked hard to ensure we had a great trip.

Our first day was Fraser Canyon, we really enjoyed the privacy of being one of two boats we saw the whole day. We were successful in landing 3 sturgeon over 60" to the fork of the tail. Also 3 more juvenile fish. I have been many places in the world but not in a canyon like this. Awesome scenery.

Day 2 we were in pursuit of salmon, we put in a maximum effort for coho and we're unsuccessful for most of the morning(10 a m.) We relocated up the Vedder River and got into the chum Salmon heavily, landing 20 or so fish. We were also rewarded with a wild coho (not a farm raised) which was a great moment after the slow start morning.

Our largest chum was right at 20lb.

The lunch is worth purchasing no complaints at all about the food, the coast hotel was hospitable and breakfast was good. We did hit up a few places with in walking distance for supper. The offy was good to us, best meal we had while on our trip.
