We've been coming to MRR since Nicole and her family came to Mattawa. The views are spectacular. There's a decent beach, and watercrafts available. The cabins are generally well kept, and they are offering linen services again. |When we arrived, there was a little mix up with the linens that was quickly remedied. Out toilet was also being fixed as we arrived. But we were cool with having a working toilet.|We've stayed here enough and have some general tips to make you stay more comfortable. |1. Frying pans: If you're cooking a meal that maybe needs a little more care, consider bringing a frying pan or cookwear that you are used to using.|2. The Dogs: On the website you are warned that their dogs have free roaming through the property. We brought our dogs (small) and are generally cautious on when / where we take them out for their bio breaks.|There are 2 dogs and 1 cat on site.|The German Sheppard is a lovely old soul. Very gentle, and very good with other dogs.|The Orange Cat wants to go home with you. He's fed and watered reguarly. He's lying. |**The Husky** She's very playful. But she turns very aggresive and will use her mouth to pin other dogs down. Be very cautious around her.|There's not alot of clean up after the dogs. We recently stayed at Lasalle and there were alot of dog dirt in the road. |We will continue to frequent this resort for our family get togethers. We know what to expect and plan for it.

We stayed in the Champlain Cabin, as a family of 5. We have booked to return this summer again. Great fishing, trails, food, activities for all ages. Canoeing, water mats kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming. We ate at the restaurant, we enjoyed the pizza, wings and especially the homemade pies. They offer great service, the water stopped and they made sure to try and get it back on. Our family and friends joined us for dinner at the restaurant and a camp fire. There was a BBQ located right at out cabin as well.

Such a relaxing and peaceful weekend. It was off season so we were the only ones there. Dave was very helpful before our trip by answering all my questions. Ray was there when we arrived and made sure we were set up in our cabin. Would love to go back in the summer

I won bid on and won a silent auction for a 2 night stay at mattawa resort in September of 2024 from a radio station. I decide to use the package on February 21,22 2025 and booked it on October 3rd of 2024. Even though the resort has very bad and very good reviews, I decided to take a risk and buy the 2 night stay. Everything was fine for months, until January 31st 2025 when I received a call telling I couldn’t have the reservation I booked in October 2024 because they had a company come in to film a movie and rented the ENTIRE resort, even though I had a booking in February. “There’s nothing we can do” was the response I received. The gentleman that I was talking with was very respectful and you could tell he was following order from the managers. Let me remind you that this is 21 days before I was supposed to be there with 4 of my closest friends from all over Ontario and they were demanding I reschedule because they wanted more money instead of showing responsible business management and honouring their booking that was made. I told them I needed a full refund and will not be ever rebooking with them. I was told that he would talk to his managers and he would get back to me asap. That’s the last time I ever heard from him.

I found out the resort called the radio station and from there the radio station dealt with me, not the people who caused this pathetic issue. The radio station was extremely apologetic and you could tell they wanted to make this right even though the resort was fully in the wrong. Thank you to the radio station general manager. Great person and great business management. Still a daily listener.
From there, the auction company had to issue a refund which seemed to go smoothly.

This resort is greedy and slimy. I would highly recommend you NEVER do business with them. They do not care about you, they will bulldoze you whenever it’s necessary for them without any sort of compensation discussion or even the courtesy of adequate notice so you are able to reschedule your plans that were made almost 5 (FIVE) months prior. If I could give a zero star I would.

The resort and scenery was absolutely beautiful! Nicole made every step of the planning process super easy. Very friendly, accommodating and helpful. We felt comfortable approaching them with any concerns we had. Our guest absolutely loved it as well, many are wanting to return to just enjoy the resort and all it has to offer! The cottages are cozy, We absolutely loved it and will go back!

The property is absolutely beautiful and the resort offers canoes, kayaks etc. The maintenance and care is what is lacking. It seems like the owners have lost their passion for this place, they are too busy with other endeavours. Lots of visibly deteriorating docks, chairs, cabins etc. There was no soap in the bathroom to wash your hands. There were no window coverings aside from sheers and blinds that were 4-5 inches too narrow to cover the full width of the window, we had to put towels and a bag over the windows so we could get dressed. The cabin was poorly maintained, this is not rustic, this is just lack of care from the owners. I don’t believe that this place cannot get linen services, my thought is that they stopped linen during Covid for safety reasons and now they have realized that people will still book rooms even if they have to bring their own linen so they have just continued with this process and saved themselves a lot of money each year but still charge the guests the same high prices. They advertise that there are trails on the property but nothing is marked out at all. You are unsure where you can and can’t go. We were told at the time of booking that the restaurant would be open all weekend for all meals but once we got there we were told by restaurant staff that they were only open Friday and Saturday. This place could be amazing if the owners cared a little more instead of just collecting money. Unfortunately, we will not return.
