I lived in my rental for 2 years and had nothing but great experiences with Newport Property Management. I'm reading through some of the reviews here scratching my head and wondering what people are talking about. It's not hard to be decent and know that you aren't owed the world. I'm unsure what's going on here, but if you treat people and your home with respect, you will get it in return.

Over time, I got to know Luka more than the others and was always responded to in a timely manner with solutions to any problems. For example, when I first moved into my house, the clean was not at all done and I brought this to their attention. Within the hour, they had cleaners on site who did an amazing job! Moving forward, anything that needed attention that was out of my scope was dealt with within a week if it wasnt an emergency.

I have recently moved so am no longer attended to by Newport but am forever grateful to have had them in my corner.

They took over our property and things actually get fixed. However the communication is poor. My neighbor has been smoking pot inside. He told office he isn't oh poor me and office believes this to be true. Did an inspection and no pot smell so can't be.
I find I'm often met with rudeness. Our mailbox was broken for a few yrs. When they took over they didn't fix it until post office insisted. I didn't get mail for a month as a result. They did cheap fixes at first then a full new box. I had to duct tape my mail box lock in for months.
When I was getting a new stove I found out by being contacted by the delivery company. Newport never contacted me. I had to spend lots of time dealing with the post office to give them the contact information for Newport to install a lock. Each time I need a repair they have the company contact me, then I have to direct them to Newport. I was dealing with my cat having cancer and the extreme stress and financial stress for over a yr. It was added stress I didn’t need. They took over Because the owner’s friends were not doing a good job. They bullied and harrrased some tenants.
The upside is they actually do repairs. I didn’t get many repairs previously.

The smoke alarm beeped in the hall for 5 days mostly at night when temperatures dropped. So they came to check but didn't replace the battery because it didn't beep when here. They hadn't replaced the battery for over a yr . So my neighbor did. They state its tenants job to replace batteries in units. Actually it's not as per residential tenancy. When I told the office my neighbour changed the battery, the response was ok it’s solved now. Yes by a tenant. Not Newport. I had replaced all batteries for years and paid for them the owner didn’t, I can no longer stand on ladders.
It would be nice if they could improve communication and be respectful to all tenants.

Update: I’m told not to talk to other tenants by Luka, she said not to approach tenants. To likely I’ll be taking this to arbitration. Pls note I clean the hallway and lots of other things around here, if I don’t get an apology and some appropriate behaviour r from the office I’ll withdrawal the service I provide for free.

The representative that showed us the property kept reminding us that we had to stay in sight when we strayed more than 2 feet from eachother. Unhelpful on any information we asked besides what we could physically see. Unresponsive to e-mail inquiries. Waited a month past the rental date to inform that we didn't get the place. We had already moved on.

Kind and helpful staff. Reasonable response times to concerns. I can tell that those who work there are doing the best they can 👍🏻

EDIT: What I wrote above was my mindset before my difficulties with them. The review was 5 stars at that time. I still believe the staff are doing the best they can with what they have and I don’t hold anything against those individuals personally.

If you go into your tenancy agreement with unresolved issues or repairs that need to be done, you can expect those to either not be done in due time or not resolved at all.

Be cautious when dealing with them and only use email correspondence.

They will hard credit check you for your application ( I know this is normal, but it is good to know).

When you move in, document everything with pictures, and make sure you do your walk-through in person. They will try to do the walk-through without you present and they will do this when you move out as well.

I had a really excellent experience with Newport Rentals. Between Chris, Shelly, and Mary, the staff were very friendly and were extremely helpful in getting settled in. I would highly recommend this business. They are great communicators, detail-oriented, and very accommodating. Thanks Newport!

Newport is THE best property management group I've ever rented from. From Genevieve their front end support to the entire staff have been nothing less then amazing to me
Things like this matter in life. Even through the passing of my father recently Genevieve and all staff have been so supportive almost wants toake me cry. As long as you are a good tenant and communicate with them properly and honestly Newport holds your best interests. They truly moved me with their compassion and care plus they get the job done for all their tenants
