Beware of Unprofessional Conduct at 1340 Danforth Rd by Metcap Management

I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Metcap Management at 1340 Danforth Rd, and I feel compelled to share my story to prevent others from falling into the same situation.

From the outset, the management person displayed unprofessionalism and inconsistency. Each day brought a different rent amount, leaving me confused and frustrated. The advertised prices on their website proved to be deceptive, as upon visiting, I was informed of an additional $500, which felt like a blatant attempt to mislead prospective tenants.

What's more concerning is the constant claim that the unit I was interested in had already been rented, creating unnecessary stress and jeopardizing my chances at securing alternative housing. Despite persistently seeking clarification on the rent, the manager continuously promised a response for tomorrow, which never materialized.

This experience not only wasted my time but also almost caused me to miss out on another apartment in a different location. It's crucial for potential renters to be aware of these misleading practices by Metcap Management. I hope sharing my encounter serves as a cautionary tale and prompts better transparency in the future.

If you live on the 1st few floors, get ready for RATS (football sized rats), mold, and sewage smells. Yes, a million service tickets and calls were sent. No, nothing was ever done about it. I tell everyone if you can live through here, every living experience is an upgrade after it. Left a couple years ago and never looked back.

Leasing agent named KAL became very hostile when I asked him if the building was rent controlled / built after 2018. He seemed to take it very personally and proceeded to ask if I was aware of how rentals were becoming very expensive. He then told me I didn't know what I was talking about instead if explaining to me what he meant. The call ended with him hanging up on me.

Met Cap, if you hire people like Kal to manage your property, then I just wish your existing tenants the best of luck.

Very Bad management, Leasing agents don't reply to calls, texts or emails. they don't bother to give you an answer. If you don't have any apartments available why are you putting ads on your website, Kijiji and all other places? Is that for fun, let people eat their head chasing us for no reason.

The building service is very bad
and there management is very rude. I have been waiting for parking for 2 years and people came after me and gave them parking and did not give me parking. If anything brakes we
feel stressed because we have to contact them because they will not
treat you well for example my fridge suddenly broke and I contacted them to came fix it. They said they will get me a new one in 2 days and it has been over 4 months and still they did not give me a new fridge. I throw my food in this hard times and still they don't care. If we where living in a war or hell it would have been better than living in this building.

Very Convenient location and place to live, Staffs are doing their Best and very friendly, if there is little more help in Apartment maintenance and allocate funds and hire more people it will help everyone. And if they renovate old apartment it will improve the building integrity and dignity.

Parking: Parking is not adequate. You should be very lucky to receive a parking with your rental unit. I waited for more than a year to get a parking spot for me. In this one year, I received numerous number of Parking Tickets becuase I had no choice but park in adjacent neighborhood. I reached out to Management regarding that, their signature reply was if I can exactly put - "Sorry sir, there's nothing we could do!!". That's awesome isn't it?

Smoking: Corridor and stairs are very smelly from all marijuana smokes and ciggerates.

Service Maintenance: Very late response. Suddenly at one night, my shower faucet was broken, water was running freely. I called their emergency number couple of times, they informed me they will come down to see the issue asap. No one came that night. I had to somehow fix the faucet on my own so that I can save my unit from flooding. However, someone came after 2 days to fix the faucet. Just imagine, what would happen in 2 days, if I hadn't fix the broken faucet. Later I heard from the team, after hours emergency call center did not flag my incident as emergency that's why no one responded. Fine. But that wasn't my fault either, why would I had to suffer?

Moving Out Experience: After my dreadful 2 years of my stay with them, I decided to move out. I called the building super number 1 week back to book the elevator. He told me to call again on the day of my moving. Now, day of moving came, I started calling that number since 8 AM in the morning. Everytime, some guy from Security office picked up the call and told me they can not help me, I have to call Building management. I told him, this number was given to me and I was asked to call this number. Anyways, after some time around 10 or 11 AM I called Building Management number as well, someone picked up and he said, " Sir, I am sending someone at your building, please hang on". Then no one came, by that time we already started moving out because we were running out of time. Later in the day, I called building management again just to hear that they didn't receive any call from me. Fantastic!
Building super also called me later in the afternoon, when we were done with our moving without their help, he blantly accused me of not calling the right number, when I told him someone from Security guy picked up, he said - they shoudn't have picked up the call, otherwise it wouldn't forward to his number.

Anyways, I don't think they have any idea what's they are doing.

Just one update: Kudos to my neighbor who was actually kind enough to help us in moving during pandemic just by seeing all the mess created by Building Managment. If there's any credit to be given, that's my neighbor who really is a gentleman. Thanks to him.

I have been living at 1340 danforth rd, very terrible when it comes to getting parking spots. Seems there is no proper procedure on how tenants get parking spots, very rude and arrogant management staff. I feel like I have to first bribe staff in order to get a parking spot. Do not recommend anybody looking for apartments to rent here at all
