Annamaria and Marlon Brass from ReMax looked after a rental property of ours for approximately 2 years. They found the best tenant for us and were most thorough in documenting all aspects of the rental process on our behalf.
They are most professional in dealing with homeowners, all questions etc were answered promptly and knowledgeably. I recommend them if you are looking for ‘reliable’ property managers and have recommended them to others.

I'm truly shocked by the amount of 5* reviews for this company and suspect that many of these come from the owners and not the tenants.

Why I would never rent with remax again:
- the staff have almost no knowledge of the properties they're showing and don't bother to either keep notes or do their due diligence before showing. When we viewed the place we eneded up taking, we were told multiple lies about the property and the truth was conveniently only revealed after we signed the lease. These lies happened to be the only reason we took the place.
- the person who showed us a couple of places (thankfully retired) just so happened to be much more thorough, friendly, and helpful when my husband was present vs when he showed to me alone.
- there's barely any flexibility for the time that you can view apartments if you have a daytime job. Remax expects you to be employed to be able to pay for the apartment, but also expects you to be available between 8-4 on weekdays to view when it's convenient for them. Good luck if you don't have a flexible workplace and/or schedule.
- the unit that we received was FILTHY, although we were assured that it would be professionally cleaned before we moved in. Anna-Maria, as my husband pulled cobwebs off the ceiling and pointed out the splatter on the kitchen wall, assured us that this is what they consider to be clean. There was paint spatter all over the floors, copious holes in the walls (that we were told we were welcome to fix ourselves), and dirt and grime everywhere. Remax also graciously left metal rods (i.e. garbage) in the unit and told us we can dispose of them ourselves. This, of course, was followed by an email at move-out time stating that we are not to leave anything when we move out or we will be charged.
- no upkeep was done in our unit between the previous tenant moving out and us moving in. On top of the work of moving, we had to coordinate with them to have them fix many things in our first weeks. They didn't even bother to install the tension rod for the shower curtain, and left it in the bottom of the tub. When we asked about it, Anna-Maria told us that we would have to wait for someone to come install it or do it ourselves.
- the communication with the team, especially Shiella, is awful. When we were moving out, I had the team send me an email and then call me within 2 hours about a showing while I was still waiting for a reply to an email I sent a week prior. Shiella seems to feel no need to reply to any emails unless she's told to and passes things off that we're then told by someone else were her responsibility to do.
- their follow-through with maintenance requests is highly variable. We had a leak under the sink that they were going to wait over a week to fix until we stated that we were not responsible for the water damage if they waited. We also waited over a year to have them fix the water temperature issue in the shower, despite multiple requests and even plumbers being there for other things. It ended up being a 5-minute job.

I really wish I had good things to share but the only nice thing I have to say is that Leigh was friendly when she came for inspections and showings. We have lived multiple places and this has been our worst rental experience by far.

Anna Maria and other employees are wonderful. They served us for over 3 years and everything runs so smoothly. If you have a place to rent and want worry free. Please go to them. Thank you everyone! It has been a great experience with you all!

The absolute worst experience. They asked for detailed financials before viewing the property and after one and a half months the rental house was still vacant. I asked for flexible move in dates and Sheila was extremely inflexible. She did not present my circumstances to the owner and even after I agreed to all of the conditions she told me with no proof that I was not approved. It was a complete waste of 1.5 months with no communication. Please do not waste your time going through this company. Find a rental through many other companies that have much better service.

My wife and I relocated from the mainland to Vancouver Island (Nanaimo) and the local Re/Max rental team was fantastic to deal with. Not only were they able to line up several properties and suites to review (on very short notice), they were able to expedite all our paperwork and get us approved for our chosen property within 48hrs. The whole team was fantastic, but we'd like to particularly thank Anna-Maria and Venice for their hard work.
