Being from out of province, I found the process of renting an apartment in Nova Scotia to be a bit daunting, harsh and uninviting. That was until we found an ideal rental with Safeguard Property Management. I can not praise them enough for the level of professionalism and care they use when handling rental properties. Candis and her team have been an absolute delight to interact with. I always received prompt responses to any inquiries and a quick resolve whenever we came across an issue in the suite. Candis took the time to listen and work with me and that is a rarity in her profession. I was always greeted with a friendly 'hello' and cheery disposition whenever I called.

Recently, my family and I had to unexpectedly vacate our rental due to family illness abroad. Candis handled our situation with the utmost care and compassion. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. I 100% recommend renting a property with and from Safeguard as they are a gem in the Annapolis Valley!

I did rent from Safeguard and I never had any issues with them. When I had a issue in my apartment and something needed to be fixed it was done asap, would I rent from Safeguard again of course I would, the owners and safe are amazing.

We have been renting for 4 years now from Safeguard. At the beginning there was some pump issues, and some problems with our garage door (no big deal). They responded quickly and we pay a fair rent. We have different property managers every year but they are all good. Nikki was ours over covid and she was awesome and extremely personable. I met Paul once, he tried to fix my doorbell on the spot (there was some damage to the wires?) And he reminded me we pay for more than just rent, to call any time. Our maintenance guy lives down the road, also a super nice guy.

I have been a tenant with Safeguard for 3 months now and I was impressed with how professional and friendly the staff is. The move in went smoothly. When we viewed the property, there were some little things that needed to be fixed. These were done before we moved in.

Safeguard is by far the worst property management company ever. They send a property manager who has never been in the house to do exit walk through.
Said manager knows nothing of property, along with original owners who have not been in house in the 3 years I’ve rented from them.
So basically pointless when pointing out any issues that they claim to have happened when I lived there.
I had to take them to tenancy board for failing to fulfill their duties on a fixed term lease. I won, currently waiting for small claims for failing to fix the heat issue. No doubt I’ll win now as I have more evidence that it was impossible to keep the house warm, despite the $200 reduction in rent over 3 winter months to “offset” heat. Laughable.
Safeguard does not maintain or do upkeep of the house, until you say there is an issue and only then its about 25% of the time it’s actually fixed. I waited over a year for a new fridge as it kept freezing my food! I also went through 3 property managers in 2 months. But it’s my fault that things aren’t done, not that communication slipped on their end.
Anyways I’m taking them back to tenancy board for claiming “damages”.
Oh they also won’t work with you on your walk out inspection, in March. Property manager was sick, then back to back snow days, but they did the walk through without me, didn’t offer another day.
If you want long term renters, don’t use safeguard as your management company. They can handle garbage, because that’s how they manage and treat people, like garbage.

I have rented from Safeguard for 6 years now in 2 different buildings. My service from them has always been top notch. Friendly and professional staff and if you are a good tenant they treat you right. I would highly recommend them.

They property managers are up and down when it comes to responses about issues. Sometimes, they reply instantly other times it takes weeks. I've had 2 different refrigerator break and they refused to come when I called. They also refused to compensate my loses in food which was everything. Won't weatherize my windows and door so cold air doesn't come in and and lies about asking the owner to pay for work then says they never asked them.
I just wanna add I've had no issues with them until this past year. I've been renting from them since 2019.

Apparently Safeguard has put us on a not to rent to list. They tried to kick us out in the middle of the winter with three children, but give us until May31st. They constantly harassed us for 25 dollars we owed. We couldn't find a place to rent and now we are bouncing all over the place. We have kids and they had marked all over their walls. We also had cats. We couldn't take a lot of our stuff, and had to leave it there including food and a litter box. Also whenever the oil company came all we could smell was the fumes for a couple of days after. We didn't have time to clean up. We are not pigs and I planned on painting and fixing things. Safeguard knew about everything wrong and refused to fix anything. Safeguard are very irresponsible and don't dare about their tenants. Why would we clean up when Safeguard didn't care about our health and wel.
