We hired Mr. Arora on March 19 to prepare my wife and my tax return for both CRA and Revenu Quebec (RQ). You see, we live in QC but work in Ontario, which was informed to Mr Arora since the beginning. When he first filed our taxes, Mr Arora reported back to me informing that I would get a refund from RQ of $12,864.85, while my wife would have to pay $505.02. I asked him TWICE to review that information as I found odd that I was getting such big sum of money, specially considering that in prior years I had gotten $850 at the most. He supposedly reviewed both files and said that all was good.

3 weeks later we get our Notices of Assessment from RQ. It just so happens that Mr. Arora was careless enough to forget that he had the duty to report under line 101 the income we had earned outside Quebec, which is just 99% of our household income. That said, instead of getting a $12k refund, I ended up with just over $1.6k while my wife, who was supposed to pay only $505 ended up with a balance owing of over $11K.

So this is just an advice to those who intend to hire Mr. Arora’s accounting services. Be sure that you double check everything he has completed and proceed with the utmost caution.
