Vida is truly the worst. Instead of a Landlord to send issues to, they instead use a "Building advisor" an unpaid position held by another tenant of the building. They constantly talk about how they "keep rent low" while raising it every single year. They take no accountability for their actions, our apartment building hasn't been cleaned for at least 2 months, they painted everything when they moved in and painted the carpets because they refused to hire actual painters to do the job. We've had a mouse problem for almost 2 years that we had to beg them to fix. We've had to have 1 working washing machine for a building full of people because " We outsource the machines to another company" While at the same time, actively raising the price of laundry. Their CEO has blocked me on social media after promising to help me fix these issues. I implore you, if your building is owned by Vida, Move out.
They've also sent us 2 threats of eviction because their system didnt register any tenants rent payments, this has happened twice now.

Update: Their response below takes almost no accountability at all, and instead chooses to blame Winnipeg as a whole? They also think it's better to pay their tenants minimum wage to do jobs they aren't qualified to do, instead of hiring an actual professional to do the job. Since then, they've now tried to increase our rent by $258 without any notice and a percentage that is way higher than the guidelines dictate. They'll say it was an accident, but it's obviously something they would like to do.

Living in a Vida apartment is a decent way to live. I am the building ambassador and do my best to look after my tenants needs while building a unique community and keepingthebuildingclean.. Sometimes it is difficult to upgrade the block though as the building maintenance person is too busy to get things done.

Vida Living kept my damage deposit after my lease ended, after they said it would be returned within 10 days during my final inspection. I asked why, and it took them three months of "we're looking into this," to eventually say that it was because my previous roommate started a new lease several months after our lease had ended, and hadn't yet paid their deposit. Scam.

They're a billion dollar company keeping my $380 for a false reason, and legally the time has already passed for them to make that decision.

Update: They also responded to this review to let me know that it was an internal error and that they would be returning my deposit and following up and now it's been deleted.

I do not recommend renting from Vida Living and I highly recommend not living at 4 Franklyn Court in Dartmouth, NS. This building has gone downhill in a hurry. It is not clean anymore like it used to be years ago and if you need anything done to your apartment you will be waiting an extremely long time. They also took the use of the indoor pool away from tenants. They said they were going to makebit into a common room but all they did was drain the water out of the pool and nothing has been built. Iwould rate them at a zero if I could. They don't mind raising your rent but never want to fix anything for you.

I have extremely bad experiences living in vida. I have been living in Vida apartment for 7 months now.Management or the building supervisor has no responsibility with anything going on. Buzz code is not working and complaining about this several times and no action taken. So far i have lost more than 4 packages worth 250 $ delivered at the lobby as buzz code is not working. We are paying for parking and others park in our lot. Nobody takes any action if complained. Very worse management..

Buildings are filthy when it is cleaned, it’s clean with a dirty mop and you can smell dirty mop, stink for days afterwards there’s no security entrances. They’re locked, but there’s no way for visitors to get in. The parking lot is nothing but potholes when you can find a spot because the construction workers from around the neighbourhood use it for parking. There is no enforcement but yet they expect us to have all parking stick And expect us to show insurance for our vehicles and insurance for our apartment There is no on site building managers. They live here but they both have full-time jobs elsewhere so they’re never here with cockroaches and mice. The garbage is all over the place outside but yet they still try to get their 5% every year.

Vida has to be one of the biggest liars of any property owners I’ve seen. Moved Into a unit in February and it has been one of the worst experiences. Vida prides themselves on safe and clean living as part of their “pillars” and so far neither of those things have been upheld. The entire building is filthy. Dust and garbage EVERYWHERE. Nothing is ever picked up and no one is ever cleaning. They’re is patches on about every single wall throughout the building, light fixtures missing covers and having wires exposed, old food left in the lobby. Not to mention BUGS AND MICE. The building is RIDDLED with them. I’ve had pest control to my unit multiple times and to no avail. My partner and I are VERY clean people. No garbage gets left out, no old food yet they keep coming. Even after getting our unit sprayed (which took ages to even get an appointment set with our building manager) I’m STILL seeing cockroaches. Not to mention hearing the scurry of mice in the walls and ceiling while you sleep.
The laundry room is always a mess. People’s clothes everywhere, garbage and it’s full of cobwebs and dust. You don’t even feel like your clothes have been cleaned when you leave. Our unit specifically has poor windows. One missing a screen and another broken and doesn’t actually lock (super safe) This was mentioned WHEN WE MOVED IN, nothing has been done since.

DO NOT let Vida fool you. Their buildings are dirty, unsafe and falling into states of disrepair.

I Live in 54 Jackson road , and there are two big pot holes in the parking area. It's very risky and unsafe to drive through them everyday. It affects the car's life as well as dangerous for elder people in the building.
