We had a sewer line and septic we had to to excavate, along with some yard work and landscaping that we needed to get done. Alex came for a site visit ahead of the work to be done, and we discussed plans, along with a timeline. Brought to our attention about the utility locates, and helped make the job come together smoothly.

Alex was able to work around our plans, the plumber, and septic service to make this time sensitive job of swapping from our septic to city sewer line come together efficiently. Alex was a very competent operator on both his excavator and skid steer. He had some tight backyard areas where the work needed to be done, and he was able to work around existing trees, garages and other outbuildings. Highly recommended.

We've owned and lived on our property for almost two decades. We consulted Alex to help us determine options for our ongoing property maintenance and improvement goals. Alex offered us sensible and achievable suggestions for improving our living area and maintaining the health of the forest and wetlands on the rest of our property. He also prepared a detailed Managed Forest Plan for our property, outlining immediate and long-term plans for improvement. He submitted the report to the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program so that we can receive an annual property tax reduction. Alex is professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. We hired Alex to remove a rotting pressure treated retaining wall and replace it with armour stone as well as regrade and add stone to a long, sloped driveway with a curve in it.
Before and during the work, Alex was continuously providing us with ideas to make the wall as aesthetically pleasing as possible including making it curved as opposed to with a right angle as we proposed and using stones that were lower in height that we were expecting.
The end result was better that we expected with the project completed on time and with all debris removed for a very fair price.
Overall a great experience and we would highly recommend Alex.

We just bought a place in Bancroft neighbouring conservation land. We had 7 dead trees on our property, a couple of them threatening structures.

After doing some reasearch, we found Alex and York River Forestry were right in town and their reviews looked good. I emailed and Alex got back to me very quickly. We scheduled a time for a walkthrough of the property and he showed up on time and was present with us through the walk. He identified the trees that we needed cut and understood the urgency. He also pointed out a few trees that were at risk and suggested things we could do to remediate so they didn't die (eg. digging out around the roots or cutting Poplar suckers that were taking over an area).

Then we scheduled a date to cut the trees down. Alex and Josh showed up on time and Alex walked me through what was going to happen. Then they got right to work and in the matter of an afternoon, all trees were cut. They finished clearing the bulk of the debris by end of day and Alex showed up early the next morning to complete the last of it. Our back yard was clean when he left and he added some glass seed to the areas that had trees fall on them.

Alex is very meticulous, on time, communicative, and extremely efficient. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his business and he often noticed things that I didn't but that didn't meet his standards. The quote was very reasonable and there was no difference between the quote and the invoice we received after the work was done.

We are looking forward to working with Alex on another project in the spring. Thanks Alex, you've got a great company and a great colleague in Josh.

When we first purchased our home, we had major drainage and erosion issues. Water was coming in the basement and our driveway was slowly washing out. Alex was able to help us build up and slope the water runoff away from the house and driveway. He provided the knowledge and experience to come up with a plan that fixed all of our issues. We highly recommend York River Forestry. Alex is such a professional and mindful of every detail involved in safely removing dangerous trees. He is very thorough in assessing any risks to property, to the point of needing to know where septic lines, buried satellite cables and electrical services are. Alex and his crew completed the work promptly with no incidents. When we returned to the cottage the only sign that he had taken down several trees was the stacked logs. He even swept and raked all small debris. Dangerous trees that could have caused property damage and personal injury are now safely on the ground, and out of mind.
