Mitch completed the drawings for me to make a legal accessory apartment in Peterborough. The City of Peterborough says you can do this work on your own with drawings on graph paper to scale but you are wasting your time. I was over 6 months with excuses and questions from the City. Mitch came in and completed the drawings and everything was approved in less than a month. With the ever changing rules and laws from the City you can never handle it on your own without Mitch's professional drawings . City inspectors looked at drawings every time before approving the next stage in the process. My only regret was not getting Mitch at the start and saving my self 6 months of wasted time.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Mitch Hynes at Your Own Design when we were developing plans to raise our cottage, with the intent of turning it into our permanent home.

We had a great experience working with Mitch to design our cottage lift and addition. The drawings and pictures were exactly what we wanted and the 3D computer ‘tour’ was awesome. As first timers doing a major renovation we are grateful to Mitch for helping us navigate the process. Communication was excellent as well as friendliness and professionalism. Mitch was very nice to work with. Plans were as requested and met the needs of the City so my permit was approved on first submission. I was provided with electronic and paper plans. They are busy so it did take a while to get them. A busy business is the sign of a good business in my opinion. I highly recommend Your Own Design.

My wife and I hired Mitch Hynes to complete drawings for a secondary suite permit application with the City of Peterborough.
Mitch went above and beyond, working with us on the design and liaising with the City regarding by-law compliance.

As is with most construction, things take time but the guys at your own design were very easy to work with. They were knowledgeable and helpful with space saving ideas. I was extremely happy with my designs. They worked with my municipalities specifications and even helped last minute before a later inspection. I am very grateful for them.

These guys are top notch we were hired to do some significant excavation work shoring up the foundation of an old 2 story farm house that became quit complex having to install temp support posts and beams to hold the old structure up over use while removing the existing foundation
These guys showed up every time we called with regards to structural questions was pretty dam impressed with there knowledge and support they also looked after all shop drawings and as built drawing with the planning dept so we could keep moving forward

I do not recommend!!! Does not follow instructions well nor pay attention to details. Drawings have errors, lack details, lack standards such as legends, appendix detailing etc. UNIMPRESSED!
